Brooklyn free-range chicken

I saw this guy in Bushwick the other day, just wandering around the street. He was tied up to a line, but had about 20 feet of slack to work with. I thought this was a rooster when I saw it, but I’m not sure anymore. Either way, It made me wonder if people eat rooster. It turns out, males get eaten quite often… It only takes one rooster to fertilize many hens, leaving any other males good only for meat.
