Everything is better with bacon
Fresh on the heels of other bacon innovations such as bacon infused vodka and the bacon weave we have bacon toffee. This was submitted to the valentine’s desert competition at my work by my favorite IT chica Dawn Gilliland. It was quite a balanced dish, the crispy toffee paired with the chewy bacon, and the sugar offset by the smoky salty flavor we all know and love. I can’t say that it was universally loved in the competition, quite a few were too scared to even try it, but it was my favorite. Bacon, what dish can’t you improve?

Yum! I made this last year and loved it. Everyone was scared of it and I don’t know why — it rocks!
Wow, interesting!
I was about to make some bacon truffles, but now I’m more tempted by this - cool!
I just finished curing my own bacon and have been poking around for some creative uses. I think this one is the most adventurous I’ve seen…
Awww…. Thanks!
I never win these things anyway… My chili always is a sleeper hit, as was my Bacon Toffee!
That’s why I enter stuff like Bacon Toffee and Frito Candy (I don’t know if you were able to try that).
Here’s the recipe… so super easy (I would recommend getting a better quality bacon. I used Oscar Mayer. But I think it would be better with another type.).

Check out that presentation, too… awesome!
I oiled the baking sheets… but I think it would be better using the SilPats (My Silpats don’t fit in my cookie sheets).
Enjoy!
