Fake
If you spend any time around Japanese restaurants, you may have noticed that there is quite a bit of high quality plastic food floating around. It’s pretty cool, because you really know what you are getting into. While a debate about weather it stifles the art of plating is probably due, it’s still a cool feature of Japanese restaurants. If your restaurant can not afford to have custom plastic food designed, you can always travel to Kappabashi, the restaurant supply district, and pick up plastic food, among other things.

You are the certified “Cho-Tabetai” explorer!
I’m so glad that you went to Kappa-bashi!
Did you buy something?
I did! I got a Sashimi bouchou! It’s not an expensive one, but it’s ok for my level right now. It was 5,000円.
I also got some ramen chawan and a magnetic katsuo no nigiri. I had a hard time not spending a lot of cash there, but I cant carry all this stuff back to the US, so I had to resist.
I understand your agony.
According to the research, the number one souvenir bought by foreigners in Asakusa is Jika-tabi because it looks like Ninja shoes and very inexpensive.
Hahahahaha, I cant see foreigners wearing tabi for some reason. I keep seeing construction workers wearing them though, and huge baggy pants. That has to be so dangerous in that line of work!
