Go suck on an egg Rachael Ray
30 Minute Meals has nothing on this 10 minute delight I whipped together after work today. I wish I could take credit for everything in the bento box, but I am only responsible for the rice (precooked and warm in my rice cooker) and the bulgogi (thinly sliced beef marinated in soy sauce, garlic and onion). All others are Korean side dishes I picked up this week at H-Mart, the gargantuan Korean market in west Philly. In the bento we have (starting at 12 and working clockwise) picked daikon kimchi, bulgogi, kimchi, stir fried spicy fish cake, fish cake, rice and seaweed salad. Dead center is pickled garlic. Since the rice was already cooked, it only took me as long as the bulgogi took to become medium rare to be sitting at my table eating. Pair that with a bottle of suju and you are good to go.
Not bad as a quick meal for one when the girlfriend is out…

I can still call it a bento when it’s Korean food, right?

You can call it anything you want, as long as it tastes good!!
i’ve heard it called bento among koreans but in korean it is technically called ‘do-shi-rak”.
