Mussels and bread

Last Friday, as we often do, my coworkers went out for lunch. We walked over to Little Italy to find a vegetarian friendly option for one of my friends who is hard pressed to find lunch selections at any restaurant I pick. I chose mussels in a white sauce, and nibbled on this bread with a thin layer of tomato sauce on top. The food was decent, but the restaurant’s decor–straight out of a mobsters house from the 80′s, white marble, gold trim etc–was more than I could handle.

  1. I love mussels in white wine sauce.

When I go into the Italian restaurant in Italian market in Philadelphia and see men in suites, I always think they’re mobs.
One place I know always plays “The Godfather” theme as BGM.
    I just love it.

  2. Hahahaha, the godfather theme song is too much!

My parents told me about one place they went to in Atlantic City. It’s a secret Italian restaurant. It has no sign, the take no reservations, and it is in a basement. It’s supposed to be really good Italian food. My parents went there and they had to wait a long time for a table, and while they were waiting, Italian men in fancy suits were arriving in limousines and getting seated right away. My parents thought they were mobsters.
