Barfi

Earlier this week a coworker, returning from a business trip to India, unveiled a box these fudge-like colorful cubes. Upon hearing there was a mystery snack in the kitchen, I grabbed my camera and went to investigate. No one knew the name of these, but a little Google sleuth work told me they are called barfi. Masak-Masak does a way more thorough job then I do describing them.

Barfi

Of the barfi that we had, I could discern the flavors of saffron, pistachio, cashew, mango, coconut, and milk (which tasted salty like Parmesan cheese). The pistachio ones were covered in a silver foil, which I found way more attractive then I have ever found gold foil on deserts. If you squint your eyes and look to the far right side of the far left piece, you can see a little bit of saffron hanging off. As for the flavor of the barfi, they were not too sweet for the most part. They had a more of a chalky texture then fudge, but they were still soft. I really like these. I wonder if I can find them state-side anywhere.

    YOUR DESIGN IS FRICKING AMAZING!

Seriously, out of all designs I have ever seen…yours seem to be the best.

I usually don’t post random compliments on websites…but…

    YOUR DESIGN IS FRICKING AMAZING!

Will you ever write articles helping others with design? I would be interested. :)

  2. @Hijac: Wow! Thanks for the compliments.

Design is such an abstract process (for me at least) I would not even know where to begin. All I can say is emulate what you like in others peoples work until you can develop your own style, and look at lots and lots of design.

I would recommend you read these sites daily:

    And read this article too:

    good luck!
