Shopping cart BBQ
My new neighborhood, Bushwick Brooklyn, is teeming with life. It’s really fun to walk down the steet. The Puerto Rican (and Latin) community here is strong, and there are so much food, drink, and music you can enjoy just by walking down the street. There are many street vendors selling mango’s, shaved ice, deep fried empanada looking things. You can tell the majority of them are unlicensed, which is fine with me, I would much rather get some home cooked food from someone’s grandmother on the street anyway. This one was new to me though, I have to applaud their creativity, turning a shopping cart into a BBQ. I was full already so I did not get any food, but next time I see her I will.

Now I figure why there’s a cart in each block…
@Ume: Hahaha, there are definitely shopping carts all over the place in our hood, huh?
I tried to ask if I could take a picture, but she could not understand me, and just smiled. I kind of took one on the fly and just kept walking.
I’m suuuuuuuuuuure that heating the metal of a shopping cart and sticking food on it is completely safe and does not contiminate the food in ANY way.
Hahahaha, I think they have the meat sitting on a normal grill grate, with charcoal underneath.
I guess you just have to live dangerously sometimes.
Saw this yesterday!!! Love it. Big ups Bushwick. Let me know how the meat taaste.
